celebration of Independence: part 2

Continuing on in our 4th of July celebration (part 1 is posted over HERE)...

On the morning of the 4th, we headed downtown for breakfast at our local cafe. Kids had cinnamon rolls but I had the 'farmer's wife' - pancake, egg, sausage and coffee. Yum. Poor hubby - he's sacrificing food for the power of God. Well, maybe poor, stupid us that are eating. :) Anyways....

Then we loaded up a picnic cooler, jeans, bug spray and jackets for the evening and all the extra supplies needed for our church 'float' in the parade and headed to 'the town next door'. This is where we started...

This airshow is an annual event that we have never gotten to see because of the kiddie parade in our own town. Since they moved the parade this year, I wasn't going to miss it again. It didn't disappoint!

After the air show, we went downtown to browse through craft booths and find some {expensive} lunch at the local street vendors. Then it was time to prepare for our annual church outreach - giving 8,000 cans of Pepsi away in the parade. It is a blast to do and we have ended up with new families almost yearly. Wouldn't you know, I have no photos of this.

Then our church family had a potluck picnic at the park. Good food and wonderful weather to fellowship over while waiting for evening to fall so we could head up for the city fireworks. (Robin did take a few photos of fireworks but y0u know how those turn out....)

What a great 24 hours filled with family fun and lots of {blasted} food!

I love church potlucks, but ours never seems to have them. Our old church did all the time and I miss them terribly...
Anyway, the airshow would have been really fun over the holiday! Sounds like a blessed 4th!

That would be quite a feat if you could hand out Pepsi, keep up with the parade and take legible pictures at the same time...

You guys are awesome! I'm sure this year's "parade harvest" will not disappoint either.

Thanks for the Pepsi! My kids from Denver were with Josh, Jenn and I at the parade and we were blessed and blown away by such a neat outreach that your church did! Great stuff! Love you guys! Bonnie
