afternoon project

Last week, we got a hankerin' for a decent grill. Actually I think my envy started about a month ago while watching my good pal cook up 2 BIG pans of chicken on her grill. But I got My Beloved on board last week.

After doing ALOT of internet research and researching our wallet after the weekend (we got blessed with a few green bills !), we decided we were ready to make a purchase. This purchase required some labor before we (well, I) could partake of the goods, so yesterday, in the height of the humidity, we went to work....

Lots of boxes to slice open. More on the boxes later.
cute hiney I get to stare at, huh? :)

Soon, this thing will be 550 degrees!

It's coming along

Second to last step happening. Sense the anticipation.

Out with the old....

....in with the new!

This sucker is a blessing. I've cooked on it 3 times, plus s'mores twice - all in 2 days. My Beloved can't wait until August....when he will finally get to experience the product of his labors. (fasting requires some sacrifice, ya'll)

And yeah, while My Beloved and I were hard at work, so were the kids.....

Wow, she's a BEAUTY! We really need a new one badly, too...
I hope August hurries for him after all that hard work!

Congrats on the grill! The before and after pictures are about as cool as Extreme makeover. WOW! Have you tried fajitas? Corn on the cob (in the husk)?

I've done grilled veggies (in my new PC basket), potatoes & onions, and tator tots (on my stone). I thought I'd be kind and wait for fajitas til Mitch can partake. Corn in the husk I haven't had good experience with. Maybe you could show us sometime.

I'm trying not to covet your grill. Ours is 10 yrs old. It doesn't work any more, it hasn't for a year or so. So is it really 10 since it's dead? Anyways, we haven't eaten anything grilled this summer beyond what others have been so kind as to cook for us. I'm hoping in the next few weeks we'll have the opportunity to buy one. We'll see...
