she was replaced

My hubby-preacher preached out of the book of Esther this morning. Not your traditional book of Esther message, which is really good...'for such a time as this'...yada, yada, yada but no, today he talked about Queen Vashti. Here are some of the points that really stuck in my heart.

Vashti forgot that she was married to the king. She minimized his position by saying No to him. Though Jesus is our friend and our lover, we need to remember that He is also our King.

When He summons us, as our King, we need to have the right response and take His calling seriously. My Beloved made the point that she was busy having her own banquet, which was probably even a good, kingdom thing to be doing. But she was so caught in her busy-ness that when her king called, she was too preoccupied to answer 'the call'.

Of course, then there is the cost that we see to not responding rightly to our King's beckoning. She lost her privilege, her position and her place. She was replaced. What a sobering thought.

My husband used to preach a similar message...too kingdom-minded to remember the King. Thanks for sharing this. It's something I need to remember often.

Good quote...'too kingdom-minded to remember the King'.

Rachelle, any chance you'll ever come to the states? I think our families would get along good! Or maybe we'll actually come up there for the pastor's conference some day.

I would LOVE to meet you and your family. We have talked often about visiting various places in the states. If you ever do make the trek up north it would be so much fun to get together!

Such a good message. We just watched the movie One Night With The King (Esther's Story) and even though it wasn't an exact remake of the REAL story, it was SO good. They could have made it sensual and graphic but it was clean enough for our whole family to watch. Having just watched it, this was a great reminder!
