jealousy consumes me :)

I'm wallowing in steep jealousy right now. A young guy from our church left last week for a year in Australia at Hillsong Church. Him and Mitch were just 'chatting' and he just went to his first church service last night (um, tonight?) and is now (16hr. time difference) headed to hear Pastor Brian for Sunday's service. Lucky. A big dream of mine is to get to Hillsong some day. Another dream (radical one) is to have Pastor Bobbie speak at a women's event I would host someday. (Yeah, I'm a dreamer) Anyways, we're so blessed to send one of our own to such a wonderful ministry to learn and grow and fall in love with Jesus more. His testimony to get him there is intense. You'll have to ask him someday. :)

So, it's out. The theme of our year shall be DISCIPLINE. I know this is the Lord because I had just started pondering that term and all it entails a month or so ago. This past week, My Beloved wrote his yearly pastor's report and declared that to be 'the word'. We had never chatted about it at all so since we've both heard, apart from each other, God must be saying something. Should be...um, an interesting year.

I decided to pull Richard Foster's "Celebration of Discipline" off the shelf and I plan to keep it close all year long. The key phrase around our house these days, "Obedience is the Key". For us. For our kids. God seems to be saying, "when I speak, you listen...and obey". So, as Mommy & Daddy learn to hear and obey God - the first time, everytime - the kids will learn the same. God help us and pour out much Grace on our journey of maturity this year.

On this theme, one thing that may happen is me putting away the internet for a day or 7 or so. I find that when I'm bored or procrastinating or whatever, the first place I turn is cyber-world. And then, wala, an hour has past. Eeks. We'll see how this turns out.

Well, with that, I better jet. My kitchen floor calls to me....mop me, mop me. So I will, while trying not to harbor bitterness in my heart towards people who are worshiping in Australia right now. Sigh. Luckies.

At our house its, "obey the first time" whether its obeying parents or God. I need to spend a season in that too!!
