Ah, another week begins. Tomorrow will start with me subbing at the school again. This time I'm a 'floater' - not confined to one classroom. On Tuesday I head north for my day of prayer. I'm totally excited about this! It's like looking forward to a date, ya know gals? The rest of the week will finish out like most. Wednesday morning bible study. Thursday, a day off! Friday, work at the cafe. I was dismayed to look at our online calender I haven't looked at for about a week and realize that my to-do list hasn't changed since last week....get tax stuff together, put Christmas decor boxes AWAY.....oops.
On a totally unrelated note... This morning while I was getting ready for church, God showed me something. To set the scene:
Right now, my wedding band is at the jeweler getting re-pronged. When I took it in, he asked me the value. Ha, I have NO idea. The diamond itself came from My Beloved's grandmother and the jeweler who reset it said it was a valuable stone. Somehow, we had tremendous favor with that jewelery store and they gave us the band they set it in. The wrap we bought for $200 - it has 6 tiny diamonds in it. Someone GAVE us $200 to help pay for the wedding so we used that money and essentially bought the whole set for $30 of our own money. Anyways. The current jeweler valued the diamond at $1500 and the whole set at $2500. I was shocked.
OK, so while my ring is getting fixed this week, I am wearing a 'sub' - a cheapy, BIG, fake diamond that's kinda fun. I was admiring it this morning when God spoke. People often will chose the fake & flashy over the real & valuable. Uh, hello. My real wedding band is beautiful. I love it. It's not big and it's not too terrible fancy. But it's mine from the man I love more than anyone in the world. And recently, I found out it's quite valuable, though we didn't put much into it.
I pray that I will always chose the real and valuable over anything fake and flashy. Discipline in life is anything but flashy but it is genuine and valuable. Give me grace, God, to learn all that you have for me in the season.
One last thought - check out PBZ's latest post on 'the church'. This man speaks truth.

Great post!
I was wondering if you got over to PBZ yet. He's incredible. Ahh, I want to internalize truth.
Blessings on your "date."
Beautiful.
When Gayle and Emily and I got together, we talked about how we'd been wondering what each other's wedding rings looked like; it is something you usually KNOW about friends, but this virtual friend thing doesn't allow it. :( Wish I could see yours!
"People often will chose the fake & flashy over the real & valuable"
Boy, if that wasn't a prophetic statement....

mmm...great reminder for me today-good stuff.
Wow. Only God can speak like that.
Somehow I'm sure I'll be thinking about that statement for days. It's full of ALL kinds of stuff and I just know He'll be bringing back around in my life. Thank you so much for sharing
Very, very true. Great post, girl.
Excellent post my friend. Fake and flashy or real and valuable. I can see a sermon on that one.
I've given you an award my dear friend. Pop over and pick it up. Blessings on your day.
Hmm, I love that. Give me the real anyday God!
More of You, less of me.

I wanted to pop back over here to tell you that I just started a Daniel study (Beth Moore), and the premise is the same thing that you mentioned about fake and flashy, in that we are living in a modern day Babylon. REALLY good stuff.
Plus, I wanted to mention that I followed the link a few days ago to PBZ's blog and it was an AWESOME post. It has been the very thing that has been resonating within my own spirit lately, too. I have really been meaning to blog about it from my own perspective for a few weeks, but I am not nearly as articulate as he is.
