Christmas is coming....

So I made it to the city yesterday, all 4 other family members in tow. It actually went well, considering all the length of the list. We treated the kids to dinner at the other IHOP - free kids meals on Friday nights, WooHoo! And then took them to Dollar Tree to do their Christmas shopping. You can read about that HERE.

Today was supposed to be our Youth's caroling trip to an assisted living home. Two of them went. Oh well. We took our girls and let the big girls each play a part in our little skit and blessed the little old gentlemen and ladies with a short skit, a few Christmas carols and some pretty green and red sugar cookies.

After this venture we stopped to get our tree. Mind you, it was 16 degrees with probably a wind chill that brought that down to a number below zero. AND, we had a heckuva time finding a nice tree. After tromping through the snow and wind, we finally decided on one that would suit us.

We got to work with lights, bulbs and the like....

and before long had this display in our corner!

After the tree and a supper of homemade chicken & noodles, we sat down to watch "The Nativity Story" (thanks for the idea, Cindy Lou!) This was one movie we did take our kids to the theater to see last year. Though not 100% accurate, I was really brought closer to Jesus both times I saw this - so were my girls.

Tomorrow night is our Youth Christmas Party. I better get these boxes picked up and finish the decorating. And probably get some food made up - teens seem to like to eat! I think that will all happen tomorrow....after church. 'night all!

Oh man, you are doing so much better than me! We TRIED to go shopping yesterday...and seriously, didn't even make it out of the car.

The pedestrians had obvious death-wishes. Walked right out in front of us. THREE different sets of people! Slamming on the brakes. Are you kidding me?!

No parking. Crazy people. We just figured..let's do this another time. ;)

Glad you got yours done!

Mmmm... homemade chicken and noodles (or dumplings) is our favorite meal around here! ;) YUM.

Your tree is beautiful. We need more pictures of beautiful YOU!

This time of year gets so busy. My oldest went to a youth (junior high) party and only 4 came.... and this is a pretty big church. Normally these things bring in 30 plus kids. Tiss the season.... ~K

What a bunch of cutie-pies! Thanks for the reminder about The Nativity Story, I have been meaning to get that, but keep forgetting to add it to my Netflix.
