like a bowling bowl dropped on your head

Well, now that the holiday is over, this week is ending a little more peaceful than it began. Except for working a few extra hours, I don't feel like I'm running like a mad woman. Yay.

This week I got a nice little box of new CD's. I couldn't resist the 'buy 1, get 4 free' offer so I loaded up. One that is my new favorite is 'superchik'. I bought it because I've heard a few of their songs on the radio and liked them. 'Beauty from Pain' is full of some fantastic lyrics and groovy rhythms. Here's a few lines from a couple of my very favs....

You need that boy like a bowling ball
Dropped on your head
Which means not at all

You have too much to give to live to waste your time on him

(I can't wait to sing that to some girl someday....)

And then one that made me bawl like a baby, the title track. It kinda sums up the season our church body has been through this year.

After all this has passed
I still will remain
After I've cried my last
There'll be beauty from pain
Though it won't be today
Someday I'll hope again
And there'll be beauty from pain
you will bring beauty from pain

So, so good. The song before it is called 'Suddenly' and is very good too. The thought "It's gonna be worth it" seems to resound in my spirit so much lately. No matter what kind of junk, pain, crap, whatever, we're going through really will pale in light of His glory and His goodness, ya know? I am so glad....and so unworthy of a Jesus that loves me that much. The wonderful mystery of the Gospel. A God who is so far above me, yet loves me enough to give everything up for me. So, so, so good.

Do you know the song Worth it All by Rita Springer? It is one I play over and over and over again. I found a youtube for it... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BQVmR0jV52A&feature=related

Good stuff.

Those first lyrics sound like a Melanie Warner quote!

I haven't heard the song...but how true that God's love for us is so huge and in many ways I can't even fathom it.

Yup, the wrong one is like a bowling ball dropped on your head! Now that's painful! And there IS beauty that comes out of pain. I have stories for that one. :) Awesome post girlie. Looks like you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Thanks for the good wishes. Blessings and hugs.

Sounds like you had a nice Thanksgiving. Can you imagine the feasting in heaven, when we as His children can all hang out. How awesome is that?
Beautiful lyrics to those songs...

SuperChick is one of my favorites right now too. "Beauty from Pain" is just a beautiful song. Oh, and the bowling ball song.. my two girls sing that one like an anthem! Love it! We actually had to get two copies of the cd. Mommy's copy, and girl's copy. I bet with three girls you're there too, or will be soon. ~K

Oh, I almost forgot to confess that I too am a sucker for those cd deals. I just did the 5 for one last week and I am anxiously awaiting David Crowder Band, Natalie Grant, and a few Christian Hip Hop cd's for my boys (who get sick of all the girly music we play).~K

Two copies of the CD...isn't that what 'import' on itunes is for?

Oh, and I got David Crowder too. And Alvin & the Chipmunks Christmas. :)

I don't THINK I've heard those songs? But the last lyrics are awesome...I may have to FIND that song and listen.

It seems to describe my life right now. A whole bunch of junk happening in extended family that really weighs on my heart. And I sooo hope that ONE DAY beauty will happen.

I'm not tech savvy enough to figure out how to import, and itunes.. did I say I was on dial up? It takes like a day to load ONE song. UGH.
