We took the fam to see "The Nativity Story" the other night. I highly recommend it. Though it's not 101% accurate, it's probably as close to authentic as you're going to find. And it made me love Jesus even more and that's what counts I think.
I was particularly struck by the humanness of Mary and Joseph. I think we tend to over-spiritualize them - especially Mary. Really, they were just as much humanity as you and I. Same emotions, same fears, same basic life stuff.
It's good to be reminded that people we look at as super-heros are just super because of God in their lives. It encourages me to go ahead and take hold of His promise for me - because, though I'm but human - He is not. He is big, He is God, He is so far above all that I am or will ever be on my own. It's when I live with Him in me that He is glorified. Wow.

We were thinking of taking the family to see it too. Did your youngest enjoy it? DJ is a very active I was wondering if he would be able to sit through it.
I'd like to go see it, I always like to support Christian or family friendly movies, but it's hard to get to the theater, especially if it requires finding a sitter. But if we don't go, then they won't make family friendly movies! And there are already few enough as it is!
Thanks for the heads up, I'm a stickler for accuracy, if I can prepare myself in advance, maybe I won't get my feathers up so much.
Happy St. Nicholas' Day!
Well said! Your last sentence esp. To God be all glory! :)
I really wanted to see this but needed to hear what others were saying about it. Glad to hear it's worth seeing. We'll put it on the calander.

This is so true. There is a such a tendency to almost hero-worship people of faith.
Thanks for the review. We've been thinking about going to see it too.
Hi javamamma :)
first time on a blog site for me. figured I would check yours out when you put it at the bottom of your Christmas letter. Kind of neat, almost like sitting down over a java together. Well maybe not. Terry and the whole North Platte crew says hi.
