I think that will be the title of my teaching at our next Ladies Night in a week.
We had a special speaker at church this morning who said she had 3 sermons for us this morning and she was going to try to merge them all. Amazingly, she did it and every one of them was just building on things my preacher-husband has already been preaching on. God is amazing.
The first thoughts she had were about building the Kingdom of God. She talked about Nehemiah and him rebuilding the wall. She likened that to us building today, building the Kingdom of God. She talked about families building the section of the wall in front of their house. Everyone contributed in some way, every member of every family.
Her point was that we just need to do what we're called to do, sometimes big and glamerous, sometimes seemingly tedious and small. But we're serving the King and building His Kingdom when we build that part of the wall that's in front of us.
Now shift to my ponderings on "what are you building?". First of all, I think some people are not building anything, they are tearing down things. Secondly, I think some are too worried about building their own things to build the wall, the Kingdom of God. Sometimes they even think they are working on the wall but they are decieved. They are laying stones on other 'causes', even good ones, but not the Cause of Christ.
The wall of the Kingdom of God will always bring Him glory. It will not bring honor to another person or another cause - it will lift up Jesus. So, what are you building?

I'll have to ponder on this one myself a bit.
Especially the distinction between the "good" causes and the Cause of Christ.
