when i grow up, i want to be christine caine

Really, I just love this woman's preaching! Christine Caine is part of the Hillsongs Church staff in Australia. She spoke at a church leadership conference I went to last October and today I was re-listening to one of the CD's from the conference.

Her perspective on the role of the "church" is amazing. Here are just a few things I am musing over from this particular teaching.

  • Survival is not the goal of the church.
  • Jesus said He would make us "fishers of men". That is the true mark of a believer.
  • Jesus really did call us to be IN the world, just not OF the world.
  • We (as Christians) have created our own little sub-cultures. We have extracted ourselves from the world, yet we live just like them. We have done just the opposite of what Jesus said - we are OF the world but not IN it.
  • God's name will become famous when we are of a different substance than the world. We have to actually BE Christians in the midst of the sinners.
  • We have confused methodology with orthodoxology. There is nothing sacred about methods - we can keep a very orthodox message and package it differently (use different methods) to impact this generation.

Loving Jesus and impacting the world around me - that's my heart's cry.
